Thiazinium Description: Cationic phenothiazinium dye, has broad use, photosensotizer, used clinically in antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (PDT) where the procedure combines a nontoxic photoactivatable dye, or photosensitizer, with harmless visible light of the correct wavelength to excite the dye to its reactive triplet state, which will then generate singlet oxygen and free radicals that kill microbial cells.
