Description: It is a highly corrosive, strong mineral acid. Hydrochloric acid is a strong inorganic acid that is used in many industrial processes. Hydrogen ion is bacteriostatic at pH ~3-6 and bactericidal at pH <3. Strong mineral acids (HCl, H2SO4, etc) in concentrations of 0.1-1 N have been used as disinfectants; however, their corrosive action limits their usefulness.
