Description: It is in phenolics group, used as antiseptic, disinfectant. It is also known as carbolic acid, is an aromatic organic compound. It once was widely used as an antiseptic, especially as carbolic soap, from the early 1900s through the 1970s. Phenol is commonly found in mouth washes, scrub soaps and surface disinfectants, and is the main disinfectant found in household disinfectants. Phenols are effective against bacteria (especially gram positive bacteria) and enveloped viruses.
